While I disagree with it 100%, I could understand someone thinking 2010 was better than 2001: A Space Odyssey. all i see are lies

If you like plot and backstory, Kill Bill Volume 2 was superior to the first, though it was hard to resist the spontaneous violence of the first.

But that's NOT to say that 2010 isn't a well put together movie as well. The acting is good all around (Hellen Mirren makes a cute lil' Commie, too), and the story is good. The difference is that the complaints of pretension people levied at 2001 cannot be made of 2010. It's a straightforward movie, and I can understand someone preferring that to 2001's artsy stuff.

Quite a few movies intend to have sequels that make it one story, but they are still considered sequels. That's how I based my judgment.

It was intended to be all one film. As was Star Wars and Lord of The Rings.... I consider anything with the same storyline, or idea (preferably with the same title or concept), continued in another movie to be a sequel. Also to note....The Dark Knight WILL be added to this list. EDIT to note: Queen Of The Damned, is NOT a sequel to Interview With A Vampire.
