I watched it tonight and liked it. I learned 3 things about myself:
1) The cheesier, the better I like it.
2) I don't have epilepsy.
3) I would give anything to fuck Christina Ricci.

It really wasn't that good, I feel. The effects where killer but, it lacked a lot....like Good acting.
Going into this film I knew it was either a big hit or a huge miss....nothing in between. It was a huge miss in my eyes.
Most people can agree because it's 1st week out only made like $2 million more than What Happens In Vegas. I don't think it hit #1 at all. I could be very wrong about that. But, I don't usually consider opening weekend for most movies.

It didn't make number one at all and it took over 100 million to make the movie and it hasn't even come close to reaching that in return....

Given how laughable the Speed Racer series was... one who goes into that movie expecting a mirror to be held up to our society is doomed to disappointment. Just like the cartoon, go in and enjoy it for what it is: a bit of fun.
On the money side of things - releasing it around the same time as Indiana Jones was a really fucking shitty idea. It was doomed to box-office mediocrity from the outset.

They fucked up releasing it a week after Iron Man. Iron Man was #1 again the same week Speed Racer came out. Indy had nothing to do with their epic fail
