Integrated classrooms (As in autistic children, in the same classroom as honor roll students)?
I think it's a bunch of garbage. Students should be able to learn without the distractions of an autistic student having an attack every day. That's why the classrooms in public schools became separate in the late 80s and early 90s. Why does the government always insist on going back to things that didn't work?
My towns high school is going to be changing to integrated classrooms next year. They are cutting the advanced placement classrooms, as well as most special education classes due to lack of funding and budget constraints on both. And growing class sizes, and lack of teachers.
And we wonder why this country has so low education standards!!~~!~

Nothing like integrating people is there?
If by integrating you mean making them a fucking spectacle, and ensuring contempt, fear, and hatred.

Bad for all involved. The non-Autistic (sticking with that example since I used to know someone who was Autistic) kids receive less attention since autistic kids generally need more than average, and the average public school teacher is ill-equipped to handle any kids with special needs, which is odd because kids are usually dumb as dirt anyways. My ex's little sister was autistic and her teacher actually told their parents to put her on medication to make her job easier, which is pretty fucking insulting if you ask me. Equality is great and all, but this is just a bad idea all around.

I always think the champions of issues such as these force change simply to alleviate some guilt they make themselves feel.

Autistic kids won't get the help & assistance they need, and the other kids are facing the possibility of getting dragged down into a stinking quagmire of mediocrity. Budget constraints my left nut, it's all about motherfuckers trying to notch down the bottom line. News flash: we're all living in nations, states & municipalities, NOT corporate entities. For instance, I'm living in the proud nation of Australia, I am not some fucking cog in the wheel of Australia Incorporated.
And for all those frugal, penny-pinching fucks out there in the political realm, congratulations for ignoring a basic fucking rule of thumb. You have to spend money to make money. Invest in people's education, as then they can yield a higher wage, pay more in taxes without hassle and not be dependent on welfare/benefits to get by. Wake up motherfuckers, wake up.

The liberal thought for this topic would be something like "but autistic kids should get to be in the class as honor roll students, because they are people too!"
But the real assessment is that the word integrated just sounds wrong in this scenario. I understand its not meant to be derogatory, but if you say they're NOT getting integrated, it sounds like they'll just be cast aside and forgot about. I think the classes should be seperate.
Obviously, an autistic child isn't going to get as much benefit from honor roll classes as a normal kid would, so why put them in there? Get them the education they require to meet their needs.

Too fucking true. People with autism require a greater degree of attention and assistance in order to learn, so how the fuck are they going to get it when integrated... hence boosting class sizes and lessening their face-time with teachers? Oh, that's right: they won't. Lose-lose situation for all involved, sans the motherfuckers who save some money due to cutting the bottom line.

Liberalism: Fucking society by alleviating our guilty consciences.

Liberal guilt is dragging us all down. Sanitising society in the home, workplace or thoroughfare, encouraging people to blame everyone but themselves for their problems, etc. Where will it stop, or better yet... who will step up to the plate and stop it?
