*After the events in chapter two, Whitey Ford is still on the lam. By whatever means he could obtain, Whitey is now is a desert area of Australia (obviously not close to Sydney). The scene opens up with Whitey stumbling down an old, dusty road. Still in his green lab coat, Whitey looks pretty rough, though it can be assumed that his appearance is due to fleeing and a lack of sleep and food instead of substance abuse.*
Ford: "Fuck, where am I?"
*Whitey looks around, but there is no way he could recognize where he is.*
Ford: "Where am I going? I guess it doesn't matter where I am if I have no destination."
*He walks up the road a bit more until he comes across a man standing next to truck. Whitey approaches the man.*
Ford: "Can I get a ride?"
Man: "Love to give you one, mate, but me truck's broken down."
Ford: "Pop the hood."
Man: "Okay, but I doubt there's much you can do."
*The man walks around to the driver's side door, opens it, and pops the latch to open the hood. Whitey tosses the hood up and examines the engine of the truck. He reaches in and tinkers around for a few seconds before pulling his head out and shouting at the man.*
Ford: "Crank it!"
*The man does so, and the truck starts. Whitey slams the hood down, then goes over to the passenger's side and lets himself in. They drive down the road as Whitey just peers out the passenger's side window until the man speaks up.*
Man: "I messed with it for hours. How'd you do that, mate?"
*Whitey comes back to reality and turns slightly to look straight ahead.*
Ford: "Back in Leeds, we had to do all kinds of fancy shit to get our cars moving once the police were called in. Heh, even Ripper and I had to do some fancy wiring every now and again."
*Whitey chuckles to himself.*
Ford: "Of course, everyone else would claim its my change that helped me do that. Yeah, I guess it made it easier seeing as I didn't see three wires and just one, but I had the knowledge before I became...this."
Man: "Seems like a good change."
Ford: "Yes...No...I don't know. It's not simple. There's a lot of responsibility for me now, and I don't want it. They talk about my potential and all the good I can do, but I just want to do what I want. If I feel like making scientific advancements, then I will. If I want to help people, then I will. I don't want to become a fucking tool to help everyone else when I'm not that happy as it is."
Man: "Sounds to me like you have a gift, why not use it?"
Ford: "That's what my parents used to say. I didn't choose to have the mind I have. If I want to use it for what I like instead of what everyone says I should, then what's wrong with that?"
*Whitey's rhetorical question goes unanswered.*
Ford: "What's why I went into wrestling. I suppressed it and did what I liked to do. Then when injuries kept me out, I turned to drugs. I wasn't going to be forced to do something I didn't like. Yeah, I'm a genius, but I never asked to be. I never told God to give this to me or else."
*Whitey makes a gun out of his thumb and index finger to simulate holding someone hostage with the "or else" line.*
Man: "You need to accept who you really are, mate. Either fate is telling you to be this 'monster' you call yourself or it is testing you to see if you are strong enough to stick with the life you've chosen."
*Whitey smirks.*
Ford: "Pretty insightful."
*Whitey looks up and sees a gas station.*
Ford: "You can drop me off here."
*The truck pulls over. Whitey opens the door and steps out. The man offers his hand, and Whitey shakes it.*
Man: "Samuel Sterns, general laborer."
Ford: "Whitey Ford, general trouble-maker."
*With that, Whitey shuts the door and walks over to a pay phone. He searches multiple pockets until he tosses a wad of change on the platform next to the phone. Whitey searches himself some more and pulls out a slip of paper. He tosses some change into the phone and dials while looking at the piece of paper. The scene changes to show Team USCW's locker room. "The Role Model" is on the couch reading a magazine as some ringing comes from the wall. Jordan tosses the paper aside and looks around. Once he sees he's alone, he rushes to the door and locks it before running to the wall and feeling on it. He finds what he's looking for and pulls out a brick. Inside the hole is a cell phone, which Jordan pulls out. He flips it open and speaks with his Christian Bale Batman voice.*
Funisher: "Funisher here."
*The screen splits with Whitey in the phone booth on the left and the Funisher on the right.*
Ford: "I heard you help people in need."
Funisher: "I have been known to."
Ford: "I need your help."
*Before any more information is exchanged, the scene abruptly ends.*
